Job Summary

Position Summary

MetaBrand is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on QC/QA Technician to support and strengthen our quality systems, product development initiatives, and regulatory compliance programs. This role will be responsible for laboratory testing, quality assurance, supplier compliance, documentation management, audit support, and implementation of food safety and quality programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience in food or beverage manufacturing, laboratory operations, quality systems management, and regulatory compliance. This position works closely with Production, R&D, Operations, Suppliers, and Leadership to ensure product quality, safety, consistency, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Laboratory Operations

• Perform daily QC inspections and testing across production lines, laboratory, and facility operations.
• Conduct analytical testing including pH, Brix, Specific Gravity (SG), Density (D), Titratable Acidity (TA), ABV verification, and organoleptic/sensory evaluations for batch approvals.
• Monitor production QC checkpoints to ensure product consistency and compliance with specifications.
• Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Maintain accurate QC records, laboratory reports, test results, and production documentation.
• Support sample preparation, formulation trials, sensory evaluations, and laboratory analysis.
• Produce development, customer, and sales samples based on formulas developed by food scientists.
• Prepare and ship samples for customer, vendor, and laboratory evaluations.

Quality Systems & Compliance

• Maintain, update, and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
• Develop, implement, and monitor GMP, SOP, SSOP, forms, records, and quality procedures.
• Create and maintain quality monitoring programs and process controls.
• Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, GMP, SQF, GFSI, and food safety requirements.
• Manage exception documentation and traceability records, including:
  • Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
  • Technical Specifications
  • Allergen Statements
  • Kosher Certifications
  • Supplier Compliance Documentation
• Support client, regulatory, and third-party audits.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field; OR
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Laboratory Operations within food or beverage manufacturing.
• Experience performing laboratory testing and quality verification activities.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP programs, and food safety requirements.
• Experience with production specifications, quality documentation, and traceability programs.
• Strong working knowledge of SOPs, quality procedures, food safety systems, and documentation management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• English and Spanish proficiency preferred.

Preferred

• Beverage manufacturing experience.
• SQF Practitioner experience or SQF certification knowledge.
• GMP Certification experience.
• Experience with GFSI standards.
• Experience with quality management software and documentation systems.
• 21 CFR food and beverage industry compliance experience.
• Prior experience supporting third-party, customer, or regulatory audits.
